A car crash in Orwell, Vermont, on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. resulted in one death and one serious injury.
The incident involved a single vehicle on Old Sawmill Road near Vail Road. Emergency responders had to extricate both individuals from the car. According to authorities, one victim, identified as 28-year-old Michael Guess, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim was airlifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted by local authorities, who reported that speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors.
