Uxbridge, MA — A 15-year-old Uxbridge High School student died following a late-night crash into a utility pole on Saturday, according to authorities.
At approximately 11:21 p.m., Uxbridge Police reported a serious incident on the 680 block of Chocolog Road. Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle accident involving a Ford Focus carrying three individuals.
One occupant, the 15-year-old student, was ejected from the vehicle and subsequently pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. The identities of the deceased and the other two passengers have not been released. No information regarding their injuries is available at this time.
The crash is under investigation, and Uxbridge Police have requested that any witnesses contact them at 508-278-7755. Road closures on Chocolog Road are expected to last for an extended period.
In a statement, Uxbridge Public Schools Superintendent Dave Ljungberg expressed condolences, confirming the loss of a student. The district crisis response team has been activated, and counseling services will be available for students and staff starting Monday morning.
