CLEARFIELD, Utah (KUTV) — A bus driver experienced a medical emergency and crashed into a tree in Clearfield on Tuesday at approximately 2:45 p.m.
The incident occurred near 1500 E. 925 South, leading to significant damage to the bus. Authorities confirmed the driver was transported for medical evaluation, but no passengers were injured. The bus was towed from the scene.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud thud, initially mistaking it for a minor collision. “Then we see the fence scattered across the entire road, and I look up to see the bus fully in the tree,” said witness Jasmyn Ashby.
Ashby assisted a nurse in reaching the bus, where they checked on the driver's condition. “He's coming back. He's coming back,” the nurse reportedly said to reassure the driver.
Nearby resident Jonithan Shaffer expressed relief that his children were inside during the accident. “If this tree wasn't here, it probably would have gone through my front yard,” he said, after viewing footage from his doorbell camera.
Clearfield city crews responded quickly, clearing debris and cutting down parts of the damaged tree following the crash. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
