19-Year-Old Faces Charges After Crash in Moberly Claims Unborn Child's Life
A 19-year-old from Novelty, Mo., has been charged following a crash on Highway 63 that resulted in the death of an unborn child. The incident occurred Saturday at 11:06 p.m., approximately two miles south of Moberly.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the suspect was driving a 2013 GMC Sierra eastbound when he crossed into oncoming traffic. The GMC collided with a 2015 Ford F150 operated by a 19-year-old man from Fairfield, Iowa.
The driver of the Ford sustained moderate injuries and was transported to University Hospital. A passenger in the Ford, a 23-year-old woman from Fairfield, suffered serious injuries; her unborn child was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities arrested the GMC driver, identified as Hayden Wilson, on charges of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of DWI with physical injury, and failure to yield. He was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation, and details regarding lane closures and vehicle towing have not been provided.
