Wrong-Way Driver Dies in Crash, Two Others Injured.

DAVIS COUNTY, Iowa — A on Highway 2 resulted in one death and two injuries late Sunday evening.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when a 2010 Buick Enclave was traveling west in the eastbound lanes, colliding with a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Emergency services transported the drivers of both vehicles, along with a passenger in the Buick, to Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. The driver of the Buick, identified as 61-year-old David Downen of Moulton, was upon arrival.

Authorities have emphasized the dangers of driving during inclement weather, urging motorists to avoid roadways when conditions are hazardous. The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

As of this year, 44 fatalities have been reported on Iowa roads, an increase from the previous year's figures at this time.
