FORT PIERCE, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a crash that injured two children crossing at a marked crosswalk on North 25th Street.

The incident occurred around 2:41 p.m. at the intersection of North 25th Street and Avenue M, where a gold -Benz struck the children as it turned from Avenue M, police reported.

The driver initially stopped to check on the children but fled the scene shortly afterward. Authorities described the suspect as a Black male, aged between 20 and 30.

The vehicle involved is an early-2000s gold -Benz with a tan interior, no window tint, and visible damage to the driver's side.

One child was taken to a local hospital and later transported to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials urge anyone with information about the vehicle or the driver to contact the Fort Pierce Police Department.
