WHITESIDE COUNTY, Ill. — A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on Illinois Route 84 near Spring Valley Road at 9:15 p.m. Thursday.
According to the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office, the collision involved three occupants who sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders extricated the individuals and transported them to a hospital in Iowa.
One driver later succumbed to injuries, while the other two victims' injuries were serious but not deemed life-threatening. Names are being withheld pending family notifications.
Illinois Route 84 was closed for five hours for the on-scene investigation and response efforts. The incident is under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
