Tractor-Trailer Rollover Causes Delays on Massachusetts Turnpike and I-95
A tractor-trailer rollover on the Newton-Weston line caused significant delays and ramp closures at the intersection of the Massachusetts Turnpike and Interstate 95 on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. The incident resulted in the closure of the I-90 eastbound off-ramp to I-95 north, as well as the northbound exit from I-95 to I-90 eastbound.
In a related tweet, MassDOT noted that I-95 northbound exit 39B and I-90 eastbound exit 123 were closed due to the crash. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.
State Police reported the crash happened earlier in the day at 10:20 a.m. on the exit ramp from the Mass Pike east to I-95 in Newton. The collision caused a fuel leak, prompting MassDOT officials to close the ramp at 12:15 p.m. The ramp was reopened around 3:15 p.m., according to state police.
No injuries or fatalities have been confirmed at this time. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
