Tiger Woods Arrested After DUI Incident in Martin County
MARTIN COUNTY, FL — Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash on South Beach Road, according to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek.
Woods, 50, reportedly drove a Land Rover that collided with a pickup truck towing a small trailer shortly before 2 p.m. The impact caused his vehicle to roll onto its side.
Authorities said Woods exhibited signs of impairment when officers arrived on scene. “Mr. Woods did exemplify the signs of impairment,” Budensiek stated. He faces charges for DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Witnesses reported that the pickup truck was slowing down to turn into a driveway when the Land Rover overtook it at a high speed. Efforts to avoid the collision were unsuccessful, resulting in the Land Rover clipping the trailer before rolling.
Woods was uninjured and was observed crawling out of the passenger door. He cooperated with police but refused a urine test after passing a breathalyzer with a result of zero.
Woods has been taken to jail, where he will be held for at least eight hours. Budensiek emphasized that Woods would not receive preferential treatment but added that measures would be in place to ensure his safety in custody.
Woods is currently on the comeback trail in golf after a series of injuries. This incident marks the latest in a series of DUI-related arrests, including incidents in 2009 and 2017.
This is a developing story. Further details will be provided as they become available.
