WASHINGTON (7NEWS) — An investigation is underway after a Metro crashed into a restaurant in Northwest D.C., injuring three people Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. near 7th Street and Q Street, NW. Authorities reported that the bus was struck and subsequently veered into the AMBAR Restaurant, which was unoccupied at the time.

Three adult women, including the bus driver, were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Fire officials confirmed that the building was deemed structurally safe following the bus's removal, which was completed just before noon. Crews secured utilities and conducted a thorough search of the premises during the extraction process.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and DC Fire and EMS are investigating the cause of the crash.
