CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – Three Montgomery residents died in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 at approximately 11 a.m. on July 20, 2026.
According to Alabama State Troopers, 65-year-old Valerie Granville was driving an SUV when it crossed the median and collided head-on with a pickup truck. The impact also caused damage to a nearby car.
Valerie Granville was pronounced dead at the scene, along with two passengers in the SUV: 39-year-old Vensen Granville and 69-year-old Willie Gholston. The driver of the pickup truck, 47-year-old Robert Eaton of Meridianville, suffered injuries and was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
The third vehicle involved was driven by 48-year-old Drema Webb of Crossville, Tennessee, who was affected by debris from the crash.
Authorities have confirmed that the accident occurred about two miles south of Verbena on Interstate 65. An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and lane closures were in effect as emergency responders managed the scene.
