Tennessee Honors Student Lives as Flags Fly at Half-Staff Today.

  • Gov. Bill Lee ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in remembrance of the victims.

On March 27, a Clarksville-Montgomery County School System transporting Kenwood Middle School students was involved in a fatal crash on its way to a field trip in Jackson, Tennessee.

Two students were at the scene; at least seven others were for medical care, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Emergency responders, including multiple air ambulance services, were dispatched to the crash site, which also involved a Tennessee Department of Transportation truck and a Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Gov. Lee expressed condolences via social media, urging Tennesseans to pray for the victims and their families.

Patient transfers were made to several hospitals, including Regional Medical Center in Memphis and Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. As of March 29, three of the four patients treated at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital were discharged, while one remained stable.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified and will oversee the investigation into the incident.
