PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Two fatalities and multiple injuries resulted from a three-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon along South US Highway 27.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred around 2:41 p.m. in the 7500 block. The crash involved a 2021 Cadillac XTS, a Peterbilt semi-truck, and a 2017 Nissan Altima.
Authorities reported that Tiffany Silas, 37, was driving the Cadillac southbound when she lost control, rotating into northbound lanes. The vehicle was struck by the semi-truck moving north in the outside lane. The Altima then sideswiped the rear of the Cadillac.
Silas was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. A 14-year-old passenger, Malia Silas, was also pronounced dead.
Two additional occupants from the Cadillac were transported to St. Mary's Medical Center with serious injuries. The occupants of the Nissan Altima were taken to a local hospital; no serious injuries were reported.
The semi-truck driver was unharmed. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the crash, and additional details are forthcoming.
