Riviera Beach Officer Hospitalized Following High-Speed Crash at Railroad Crossing.

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — A Riviera Beach police officer sustained serious injuries Tuesday evening while responding to an emergency call, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Officer J. Daniels was en route to the incident on Australian Avenue near W. 13th Street, with lights and sirens activated. Authorities reported that he failed to reduce speed at a railroad crossing, resulting in his vehicle becoming airborne.

The officer's vehicle struck a street light pole and a fence before colliding with a tree. He was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he is now listed in stable condition.

There are no reported fatalities or additional injuries from the incident. An investigation is ongoing, and the roadway was briefly impacted by the accident response.
