Teen Identified as Victim in Fatal Crash in Western North Dakota.

KEENE, N.D. — One teenager was killed in a on Highway 23 in McKenzie County early Saturday morning, Aug. 29.

Clayton Macklin, 19, of Watford City, was driving a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 westbound when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a semi truck operated by 36-year-old Lazaro Amador of Williston at approximately 6:43 a.m. Authorities confirmed that Macklin died as a result of the crash; Amador suffered no injuries.

The accident prompted a closure of a section of Highway 23 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for investigation and cleanup. Highway 23 traverses northeast to southwest through McKenzie County, terminating south of Watford City.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and further details will be released as they become available.
