LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A teenage girl was critically injured in a vehicle crash near the University of Louisville campus on Saturday evening.
According to Louisville Metro Police, officers responded to a report of a collision in the 2000 block of South Third Street, south of Brandeis Avenue, at approximately 5:20 p.m. The investigation revealed that the car was traveling southbound on Third Street when it experienced mechanical issues.
Both the driver and the passenger, believed to be a teenage girl, exited the moving vehicle. The passenger became pinned between the car and a tree. Emergency responders transported her to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. The driver sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the mechanical failure, the reasons for exiting the vehicle, and how the passenger was pinned. Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved and no charges are anticipated.
