GARVIN COUNTY, Okla. (KOKH) — A Stratford woman died following a crash in Garvin County on Thursday evening.
Just before 7:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a collision on US 177, near East County Road 1610. Authorities reported that a northbound vehicle veered off the roadway before overcorrecting and re-entering the path of a southbound vehicle.
The impact resulted in a head-on collision. The driver of the northbound vehicle, identified as 41-year-old Connie Fires, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the southbound vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The incident led to lane closures while authorities conducted an investigation, which is ongoing.
