Milwaukee Mother's Stolen Involved in Fiery Crash on Christmas Day

MILWAUKEE — A stolen vehicle crashed and caught fire on December 25, sending three individuals to the hospital.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. at 68th Street and Fiebrantz Avenue when the driver of an failed to yield, colliding with another car. The subsequently hit an unoccupied vehicle and a tree before igniting, according to Milwaukee Police.

The owner of the vehicle, Baboonie Tatum, reported her car stolen from her driveway on Christmas Eve, along with two other family vehicles that were ransacked. Tatum's daughter discovered the theft, which involved multiple items and opened Christmas gifts.

Tatum suspects the thieves utilized a key fob programmer to gain access without breaking any windows. She emphasized concerns over the technology facilitating such crimes.

Two 18-year-olds and a 19-year-old, occupants of Tatum's stolen car, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently arrested. Authorities confirmed they are the same individuals responsible for the theft, with charges being referred to the District Attorney.

Despite the incident, Tatum plans to save for a replacement vehicle.
