Spider Blamed for Car Crash in Cooper City, Florida
COOPER CITY, Fla. (AP) — A driver crashed a car into a light pole on Tuesday after being startled by a spider inside the vehicle.
Broward Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Jachles confirmed the incident occurred in the Florida suburbs, northwest of Miami. The white car struck a light pole, which then fell into the street.
Authorities provided limited details on the incident, but images released by the sheriff's office indicate substantial damage to the car's front end. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
In a tweet, Jachles mentioned he could not identify the type of spider involved but humorously noted it was “not #itsybitsy.”
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with no further updates on any possible lane closures or additional emergency response activities.
