LINCOLN, Neb. — A former University of Nebraska regent received a DUI conviction following a serious crash last year, injuring a passenger in another vehicle.

Elizabeth O’Connor pleaded guilty to one count of DUI causing serious bodily injury. Authorities stated the charge is linked to a May 2025 incident where O’Connor was driving at more than four times the legal limit, resulting in severe injuries to a passenger, including a broken back and pelvis.

O’Connor resigned from her position as regent in January. She is scheduled for sentencing on August 17.
