Motorist seriously injured in crash on I-95 northbound in Newbury, investigation ongoing.
NEWBURY, Mass. —
A driver was seriously injured in a crash involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer on I-95 northbound around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
The driver of the SUV required extrication and was medically flown to a Boston hospital. Their current condition remains unknown, according to authorities.
All lanes of I-95 were temporarily closed during the medical response. The Central Street ramp to I-95 is also closed as police continue to investigate.
Initial reports indicate extensive damage to the SUV, with debris scattered across the roadway. The status of the tractor-trailer driver is unclear; no injuries have been confirmed.
As of now, one lane of I-95 northbound has reopened, but drivers are advised to avoid the area and exercise caution.
