BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A semi truck driver was killed in a crash on southbound US-131 near the M-6 interchange around 8 a.m. on July 1.

According to the Michigan State Police, the semi truck collided with a passenger vehicle, which rolled over. The driver of the passenger vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The 64-year-old semi truck driver from Allegan was at the scene. An investigation is underway to determine if drugs, alcohol, or seat belt use were factors in the crash.

Authorities closed southbound US-131, as well as a lane on northbound US-131 and ramps to and from M-6, for several hours to gather evidence and clear the wreckage. Motorists are advised to avoid the interchange.
