LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Tymetrius Walter was sentenced to 40 years in prison on July 1, 2026, for a crash that killed 10-year-old Jake Luxemberger in Oldham County.

Walter, who pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, assault, and several other charges, was being pursued by police on I-71 in 2023 when he collided with an . The crash fatally injured Luxemberger, who was a passenger in the vehicle driven by his grandmother.

During the hearing, Teri Portnoy, Jake's grandmother, delivered an emotional statement via Zoom. “Jake was taken from all of us. I live every day with the overwhelming guilt that I survived and he did not,” she said.
