WEBSTER CITY, Iowa — A head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver on U.S. Highway 20 resulted in two fatalities Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, a caller reported a white pickup truck traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 20 near the Webster City exit just after 12 p.m. Emergency responders, including Webster City police and sheriff's deputies, were dispatched to the scene to intercept the vehicle.
Before responders could arrive, the wrong-way truck collided head-on with a westbound vehicle. The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released.
This incident remains under investigation by law enforcement.
