Charlton, MA— A driver was killed and another seriously injured in a crash on Route 20 Tuesday morning, according to State Police.
The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. between Route 169 and Route 49. State Police and the Charlton Fire Department responded to the scene, where the highway was closed for investigation.
One driver was confirmed dead, while a second was airlifted to a hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities did not specify the number or type of vehicles involved, but images from the scene show a severely damaged SUV in the roadway and a white pickup truck in the median.
Witness accounts indicate that the driver of the pickup sideswiped a school bus transport van before colliding with another vehicle. Edwin Montes, the bus driver, reported that the pickup truck entered his lane moments before the crash.
