POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. – A 20-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Butterwood Circle on Sunday afternoon.
Thomas Leon Hollyfield, of Powhatan, died after his 2004 Kawasaki Ninja collided head-on with a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze at approximately 1:05 p.m. on March 29, 2026, according to Virginia State Police.
Authorities reported Hollyfield was traveling at a high rate of speed while negotiating a curve, and crossed into the opposite lane before the collision. He was ejected from the motorcycle and subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered injuries but survived the incident. The crash is under investigation by Virginia State Police, and lane closures were implemented during the emergency response.
