One car catches fire after three-vehicle crash on I-64 in Newport News, according to VSP.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A three-vehicle crash on I-64 in Newport News resulted in one catching fire Wednesday night, according to Virginia State Police.

The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on the westbound side of I-64 at the J. Clyde Morris Boulevard exit, 258B. A Nissan Altima was fully engulfed in flames following the collision.

All occupants of the Nissan exited the vehicle safely, with reports indicating only minor injuries among those involved. One individual was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities stated that the acceleration/deceleration lane and the off-ramp for southbound J. Clyde Morris Boulevard are closed for investigation purposes.

As of Wednesday night, the left two lanes of I-64 westbound remain open, with traffic in the acceleration lane rerouted to northbound J. Clyde Morris Boulevard, according to state police.
