MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Investigators announced on January 8 that two individuals conspired to burglarize the home of the late NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, who died in a plane crash on December 18.

Authorities, including the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, reported that over $30,000 in cash, firearms, and memorabilia were stolen from the Biffle residence. The couple, who had prior connections with Biffle, allegedly planned the break-in to profit from his death, according to Sheriff Darren Campbell.

The burglary occurred the night of January 7, with a female suspect captured on surveillance video spending nearly six hours inside the home. The intruder reportedly demonstrated knowledge of the property's layout. Search warrants executed at two locations, one near the Biffles' home, are part of an ongoing investigation.

Investigators linked the female suspect to a person who attended Biffle's celebration of life. Additionally, they reported that Biffle's financial accounts were accessed online, indicating potential identity theft. Fraudulent transactions were traced across multiple states, though police have not confirmed connections between the burglary suspects and the financial crimes.

The fatal crash, which also claimed the lives of Biffle's wife, children, and three others, remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board. Lawsuits against the estates of Biffle and pilot Dennis Dutton have been filed, seeking damages for alleged negligence related to the aircraft's operation.
