Cleanup Underway After Oil Tanker Crash in Plano on Friday Afternoon

PLANO, TX — Cleanup efforts are ongoing following an oil tanker crash that occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. on Friday, September 15, at the intersection of Spring Creek and Windhaven Parkway.

According to city officials, a ran a red light and collided with the oil tanker. The incident led to a significant fuel spill, which flowed into a nearby storm drain and subsequently into White Rock Creek.

Authorities announced that Hazmat crews arrived promptly and have been actively working to contain the spill since the accident.

As a precaution, the southbound lanes of the Windhaven Meadows walking trail remain closed until further notice. No injuries or fatalities have been reported at this time, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
