BARNWELL COUNTY, SC — A single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning resulted in the death of one passenger and injuries to three others.
At approximately 1 a.m. on January 1, a 2015 Honda Accord was traveling north on Red Oak Road when it veered off the left side of the roadway and struck a concrete loading platform, according to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
There were four passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Three passengers were injured and subsequently transported to WellStar MCG in Augusta, authorities said. Unfortunately, one passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders, including local law enforcement and medical aid teams, were on-site to assist following the accident. The S.C. Highway Patrol is actively investigating the incident.
