Fatal Accident on I-77 in Columbia Claims One Life
Columbia, SC (WOLO) — A fatal accident occurred early Monday morning on Interstate 77, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Officials reported that a 2010 Nissan Pickup truck was traveling northbound at mile marker 9 when it veered off the right side of the roadway and collided with a guardrail just after 7:30 a.m. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Prisma Health Richland, while the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased passenger has not been released. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. No lane closures were reported following the accident.
