OPELIKA, Ala. (WAKA) – A motorcycle crash involving an SUV in Opelika resulted in the death of a 66-year-old man from Columbus, Georgia, on September 4.
According to Opelika Police, the incident occurred shortly before 2:15 p.m. An officer on 2nd Avenue witnessed the crash and found the motorcyclist unresponsive in the grass nearby. He was transported to East Alabama Medical Center, where he later died. The victim's identity is pending release.
The SUV's driver and passenger remained at the scene and were treated for minor injuries.
The Opelika Police Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit is leading the ongoing investigation into the crash.
