STRYKER, Mont. — One person died in a UTV crash near Stryker in Lincoln County on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a 21-year-old man from Kalispell was driving a Maverick Sport utility terrain vehicle (UTV) southbound on Mount Marston Road at a high rate of speed.
The UTV hit a bump, lost control, and overturned, ejecting both the driver and passenger. Troopers arrived at the scene and pronounced the passenger, also a 21-year-old man from Kalispell, dead on arrival.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, did not sustain any injuries, while the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Authorities suspect that alcohol and speed may have contributed to the incident. An investigation is ongoing.
