BUTTE — A 35-year-old man from California died Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash on I-90 near Butte.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly before midnight. The driver, from Palmdale, was traveling westbound near mile marker 227 when his vehicle left the roadway, entering the median with little to no input from the driver.
The vehicle traveled approximately 550 feet in the median before losing control and colliding with a bridge structure. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that speed is considered a contributing factor to the crash.
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional injuries were reported.
