One person died and three were injured in a head-on crash on Dixie Highway, according to LMPD.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One person was killed and three others injured in a head-on crash on Dixie Highway Friday night.

The collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Maryman Road, according to Louisville Metro Police (LMPD). A vehicle containing two adults and a child was northbound in a turn lane when it was struck by a southbound vehicle.

The impact caused both vehicles to block all lanes of Dixie Highway. Pleasure Ridge Park Fire and EMS transported the occupants of the northbound vehicle to Norton Women's & Children's Hospital. They were reported alert and conscious, with injuries considered non-life-threatening.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition and later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

No other vehicles were involved, and LMPD is investigating the incident. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
