SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – A driver was killed in a crash on Interstate 15 Sunday afternoon, and a passenger sustained injuries.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, a Dodge Charger was traveling north on I-15 near 3300 South around 4:30 p.m. when it veered off the right side of the road and rolled over. The vehicle came to rest upside down between the northbound lanes and the 3300 South on-ramp.
Emergency responders transported both the female driver and male passenger to local hospitals. The driver, later identified as 45-year-old Erin Bingham from South Ogden, succumbed to her injuries. The passenger is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities initially categorized the incident as a single-vehicle crash but later established that the Charger had collided with a Honda Civic, which contributed to the loss of control.
Northbound lanes were closed for approximately five minutes around 5:30 p.m. and have since reopened. The investigation is ongoing.
