MESQUITE, NV (KTNV) — One person died and multiple others were injured in a fiery RV crash on I-15 in Mesquite on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities reported that the collision occurred at 1:50 p.m. near mile marker 122 when an RV lost control, crossed the median, and collided with oncoming traffic before catching fire. Four vehicles were involved in the incident.
Mesquite Fire and Rescue confirmed that three individuals were transported to a local hospital for evaluation, while one person has been confirmed deceased.
Both northbound and southbound lanes of I-15 were reopened several hours after the incident. The Nevada State Police – Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash.
In a statement, police recognized the bravery of bystanders who assisted injured motorists during the chaotic scene. One individual managed to pull a victim from the RV before it became fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses reported multiple explosions as victims were moved to safety.
Mesquite police also noted that many bystanders provided water and blankets to those affected. “Your courage and kindness made a difference, and your actions exemplify the very best of humanity,” the department stated.
