One dead and another in critical condition following crash suspected to be drug-related.

MANISTEE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — A crash in Cleon Township on Sept. 6 left one person dead and another critically injured.

At approximately 9:12 a.m., Michigan State Police (MSP) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Harlan Road near M-115. A box truck, carrying a 24-year-old driver from Grayling and a 21-year-old passenger from Merrit, reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign, colliding with a .

The , driven by a 49-year-old man from Ohio, had a 39-year-old female passenger, also from Ohio. Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene, while the 49-year-old man sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The occupants of the box truck were treated at the hospital and subsequently released. MSP indicated that drugs may have contributed to the accident, which remains under investigation.
