ELLIS COUNTY, Okla. (KOKH) — A 70-year-old woman died following a single-vehicle crash on June 9 in Ellis County.
Emergency crews responded around 3:40 p.m. to a call regarding an accident on Hwy 15 at NS 186. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Leona Nunez was driving westbound when her front right spare tire blew out.
This caused her vehicle to veer off the roadway, traverse a ditch, and ultimately collide with a tree. Nunez sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details on lane closures or responding agencies have been released.
