CANADIAN COUNTY, Okla. (KOKH) — Four young individuals died following a head-on collision on I-40 early Friday morning.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), Kiercy Hickson, 17, Brad Palmer, 19, Haleigh Salazar, 17, and Quincy Jones, 17, were traveling eastbound when a wrong-way driver struck them at approximately 2:41 a.m.
All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Michael Rosario-Cruz, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including four counts of second-degree murder and two counts of DUI causing great bodily injury.
Witnesses reported that Rosario-Cruz was also charged with transporting an open container and carrying a firearm with an altered identification. The OHP confirmed that he was driving the wrong way on a one-way road.
Emergency response units, including medical aid, arrived on the scene, but all attempts to revive the victims were unsuccessful. The highway was closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the wreckage.
