NOPD Launches Investigation into Fatal I-10 Crash.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a deadly crash on Interstate 10 West, just before the Franklin Avenue Exit, that occurred Saturday night.

Authorities confirmed that a 35-year-old woman died in the collision. According to investigators, a motorcyclist and the drivers of a Kia and a Chevy pickup truck were traveling westbound when the motorcyclist slowed for traffic. The Kia struck the motorcyclist from behind, leading to a collision involving the Chevy.

The driver of the Kia was at the scene, while the motorcyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital. The Jeep driver and his passengers remained on-site and declined medical assistance.

The crash is under investigation. The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death and will release the victim's identity upon family notification.
