Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Newark Accident
Oct. 10, 2026, 12:29 p.m. ET — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle at Library Avenue and East Delaware Avenue in Newark on the evening of Oct. 9.
Newark Police responded to the incident at approximately 7:20 p.m. and began rendering medical aid to the victim. Emergency personnel from Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Fire Company and New Castle County Paramedics arrived shortly afterward to take over medical care.
Authorities confirmed the victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The roadway was closed for a preliminary investigation, and Sweeney Towing was dispatched to remove the vehicle involved. No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the incident.
