Nicholasville Plane Crash Claims Two Lives on Saturday Morning
Nicholasville, KY — Two people died in a plane crash on Saturday morning in Jessamine County, according to the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities reported that the crash occurred around 8:46 a.m. on a farm off Kentucky Route 169 between U.S. 27 and U.S. 68. The aircraft, a CA6-WB, had been sending distress signals and was tracked by Blue Grass Airport in Lexington before losing radar contact.
“We started receiving multiple 911 calls about an airplane in distress,” said Jessamine County Sheriff Kevin Grimes. “Blue Grass Airport also reported that they lost sight of the aircraft.”
At this time, the sheriff's office, in coordination with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), is investigating the incident.
Records show that the plane, registered as #N82BT, departed from Blue Grass Airport at 8:40 a.m. and was airborne for approximately six minutes, reaching a maximum altitude of 3,300 feet and a speed of 189 miles per hour.
