BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A fatal two-vehicle collision involving a Boyle County Sheriff's Office cruiser occurred on US-127 Tuesday night.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to the intersection of US-127 and West Shelby Street. KSP reports that the sheriff's deputy was traveling northbound on US-127 and attempting to turn left onto West Shelby Street when a southbound vehicle failed to yield at a traffic device and struck the cruiser.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 27-year-old Michael Mingey of Lancaster, was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The deputy was also taken to EMRMC for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
KSP indicates that the investigation is ongoing and further details will be released as they become available.
