LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A motorcyclist has died days after a crash on I-265 South.
According to Louisville Metro Police, the Traffic Unit was notified Saturday that the man, hospitalized at UofL Hospital since Wednesday night, succumbed to his injuries.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday near mile marker 5, close to the New Cut Road exit. Authorities report that the motorcyclist was reportedly speeding and weaving through traffic before losing control and veering off the roadway.
After leaving the road, he entered a wooded area, where he collided with a pole and was ejected from the motorcycle. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office will disclose the victim's identity once family members are informed.
The LMPD Traffic Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
