Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Head-On Collision in Kokomo.

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) — A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries in a with a on North Dixon Road Sunday evening.

The crash occurred at 7:32 p.m. on September 13, in the 800 block of North Dixon Road, outside the Jefferson Crossing Apartments. Lenney Belt, 64, of Kokomo, was operating a 2016 Harley-Davidson when a 2009 Prius, driven by 64-year-old Beishe Tokoev, also of Kokomo, struck him.

According to the Kokomo Police Department, the motorcycle was heading north in the right lane, while the Prius was traveling south. The crossed into the northbound lanes, colliding head-on with the motorcycle. Tokoev reported to officers that he had fallen asleep while driving.

Emergency crews from the Kokomo Fire Department and Ascension St. Vincent EMS administered on-site treatment to Belt before airlifting him to a trauma center, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Tokoev received a medical evaluation at the scene but declined further treatment.

Authorities took Tokoev to a nearby hospital for a mandatory blood draw, as stipulated by Indiana law for serious injury incidents. The investigation by the Kokomo Police Department remains ongoing, with results pending from the Indiana State Department of Toxicology.
