LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A 48-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday morning in a crash involving a stolen motorcycle and a turning vehicle in east Las Vegas, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
Officers responded to the collision at approximately 9:23 a.m. at East Owens Avenue and North 23rd Street. Evidence and witness statements indicate a stolen 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Owens Avenue.
A 2010 Chevrolet was stopped in the westbound left-turn lane, waiting to turn south onto 23rd Street. The crash occurred when the Chevrolet driver failed to yield and turned left, crossing the motorcycle's path.
The front of the Kawasaki collided with the right front of the Chevrolet, ejecting the rider. Medical personnel transported the motorcyclist to the UMC Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Chevrolet driver, a 38-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the UMC Emergency Room. Police stated he cooperated with the investigation and showed no signs of impairment.
This incident marks the 63rd traffic-related fatality within LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2026. The Collision Investigation Section is ongoing.
