Motorcyclist Killed in Smyrna Crash Early Sunday Morning

A 59-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident on Smyrna-Leipsic Road near Smyrna at 4:16 a.m. on September 5, according to Delaware State Police.

The man was riding his Yamaha X1A when he failed to make a turn, leaving the roadway and entering a ditch before striking a culvert pipe, authorities said. He was thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the crash.

Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was . The man's name is being withheld pending family notification.

Delaware State Police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Delaware State Police or Delaware Crime Stoppers.
