Subaru Issues Recall for Over 60,000 Vehicles Due to Moonroof Issues

June 4, 2026, 9:16 a.m. PT – Subaru is recalling 69,663 vehicles, including the 2026 Subaru Forester and Forester Hybrid, due to potential moonroof assembly defects.

The recall affects 65,656 Foresters manufactured between June 19, 2025, and March 13, 2026, and 4,007 hybrid models produced from February 20 to March 17, 2026. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the moonroofs may have been improperly installed, risking detachment during operation.

The issue was identified following a report on February 26, where a power moonroof glass panel detached from a vehicle. Subaru's investigation revealed at least three similar incidents in the U.S. between February 26 and March 25. However, authorities have confirmed no injuries or crashes related to the defect.

Subaru will inspect the moonroof glass panel for proper adhesion at no cost to owners. If necessary, the glass panel will be replaced. Notification letters to affected owners will be mailed on July 24. Owners can contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614 for further information.

Subaru's recall number for this issue is WRF-26, and Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be checked on the NHTSA website starting May 29.
