A crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan closed Interstate 70 westbound near Fairwood Avenue on Columbus' East Side around 6:45 a.m. Monday.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers were dispatched to I-70 westbound near Fairwood Avenue for an injury crash involving the motorcycle and a sedan.
All westbound lanes were closed beyond the I-70 West C-D Road near Kelton Avenue, backing traffic toward the Hamilton Road area, authorities said.
Police said the motorcyclist was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. Additional crashes were reported in the area after the initial collision, but officials have not confirmed how many vehicles were involved.
It was not immediately clear what caused the crash or when all lanes would reopen.
The incident remains under investigation.
